Call for Workshops

The Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS) increasingly attracts co-located workshops and other ancillary events on topics related to Information Systems. The workshops aim to foster communities of interest among scholars and provide opportunities for networking and engagement with colleagues who share similar interests, regardless of academic seniority. PACIS workshops provide a platform for sharing knowledge, stimulating conversation, generating new ideas, challenging assumptions, thinking out of the box, inspiring action, and forming partnerships. Participants can also develop capabilities in specific domains in the hands-on tutorials.

Workshops on emerging topics are especially encouraged. Tutorials on teaching, research (methods and tools), and academic careers are also encouraged. However, the proposed workshops should not be covered by the conference tracks.

We invite proposals for a full-day or half-day workshop to be held on 6 July, 2027, before the main conference program. Workshop proposals are due by  15 January, 2027.

Responsibilities of the Workshop Organizers

Workshop organizers are responsible for the content of the workshop and are required to cooperate closely with the PACIS 2027 workshops chairs and the local organizers to finalize all organizational details, such as arranging rooms, catering, and required equipment. The workshop will be announced on the PACIS 2027 conference website, but workshop organizers are also expected to promote it (e.g., by distributing a call for papers) within their networks.

If the workshop has a paper presentation format, the workshop organizers will be responsible for the review process. This means that you have to use your own paper submission management system (e.g., EasyChair) and publish your own proceedings.

Workshop attendees and organizers must pay the PACIS 2027 workshop registration fee. If workshop attendees would like to attend the main conference, they must also pay the conference registration fee. Notably, local organizers may require that all workshops adhere to specific requirements regarding the general timetable, registration, and catering.

Please note that the workshop’s time and/or location may be adjusted based on the number of submissions received, and that workshops may be canceled due to insufficient submissions or registrations by the early registration deadline. Only accepted workshops are official PACIS 2027 workshops and may benefit from the support of the organizing committee.

Prospective organizers may propose a workshop or any other relevant ancillary meeting until 15 January, 2027 using the online form. Please prepare in advance the following details to be included in the online form:

  • Workshop title
  • Contact person details
  • Workshop organizers
  • Prior experience of the workshop organizers
  • Workshop theme (max. 2000 characters)
  • Workshop format (max. 750 characters)
  • Planned duration (i.e., half or full day)
  • Target audience and expected attendance
  • Workshop program committee members (if applicable)
  • Plan for publications (if applicable, e.g., a journal special issue)
  • Planned acceptance rate (if applicable)
  • Workshop participation application deadlines
  • Special equipment needed

Decisions to accept/reject workshop proposals will be made by 7 February, 2027. Evaluation criteria include the overall quality of the proposal, the workshop relevance, and venue capacity.

If you have any questions before submitting a proposal, please contact the workshop chairs via their emails:

Please note that proposals should be submitted using the online form ONLY and should not be sent by email.
