Doctoral Consortium

We invite nominations for the 31st Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS) Doctoral Consortium, to be held in Auckland, New Zealand, on 5–6 July 2027.

The PACIS Doctoral Consortium is an interactive event where doctoral students present their research, receive feedback from senior scholars, and connect with peers and faculty advisors. Nominees should be PhD candidates in Information Systems with a well-developed dissertation plan who would benefit from such constructive insights. Our faculty advisors are leading IS scholars from top universities worldwide, many of whom serve in senior editorial roles at the field’s premier journals. The Consortium offers a valuable opportunity for emerging IS scholars across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

Important Dates

  • Nomination Deadline: March, 31st 2027
  • Acceptance Notification: May, 1st 2027
  • Doctoral Consortium: July 5th – 6th 2027

Location: TBC

 Monday, July 5 &
Tuesday, July 6

PhD candidates in Information Systems whose dissertation work is well underway—with a defined research plan—and who have at least six months of research remaining and would benefit from constructive feedback.

Nomination Eligibility

Who may be nominated: PhD candidates in Information Systems whose dissertation work is well underway—with a defined research plan—and who have at least six months of research remaining and would benefit from constructive feedback.

Language requirement: The Consortium will be conducted in English, and all submitted materials must be in English. Students should have sufficient proficiency to engage fully in presentations, discussions, and related activities.

Regional priority: While preference is given to students from Asia-Pacific institutions (AIS Region 3), outstanding candidates from other AIS regions are also welcome.

Nomination Process

Ranking multiple candidates: Institutions may submit more than one nomination but must rank their nominees. First-ranked nominees will be considered on equal footing with first-ranked (or sole) nominees from other institutions. Programs with large cohorts may have more than one student admitted.

Who submits: Nominations must be made by the chair, PhD coordinator, or head of the IS unit (or the unit housing the IS program), not by individual faculty members.

What to include:

  • Candidate proposal, including the research topic and key question(s), theoretical framework, proposed methodology, current stage of the project, and timeline to completion.
  • Nomination letter from the chair/head, certifying that the candidate is the institution’s official nominee and meets the eligibility criteria.

Nomination Submission Requirements

Proposal format: A short paper (max 9 pages per PACIS guidelines, not counting the cover or nomination letter) that summarizes the strongest study from your dissertation.

Nomination letter: Must list the candidate’s full name; university, school, or department; complete contact information for both the nominee and the nominating official.

Supervisor details: The proposal should name the candidate’s principal faculty supervisor.

Templates: Use the official nomination form and paper template provided below.
